I Visited Busselton Jetty in Western Australia — and Here's Why You Should, Too
Inspiration for your next travel adventure!
Dear Reader,
I’ve had a fabulous start to the New Year, exploring around Perth with my sis and going on a two and a half hour’s drive to the Busselton Jetty, which is located at the northern side to the famed Margaret River wine region. My nephew and niece added to the fun of the unforgettabe experience as we celebrated my sister’s birthday there.
The experience was simply amazing, which is why I’d recommend that you plan a trip to Western Australia and you will LOVE it!
What is Special About Busselton Jetty?
The Busselton Jetty is ranked as the longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere.
It is one of the most popular tourist spots in Western Australia.
Few interesting facts about this picturesque dream destination:
It began functioning as early as 1865
Explore the heritage site that extends around 1.8 km over the Geographe Bay.
Spanning more than a century of continuous use and having provided its service to more than 5000 vessels, the Bussselton Jetty shut down its operations in 1973.
It is home to one of the six Underwater Observatories in the world. Completed in 200, this observatory extends to around 8 metres under the sea and lets visitors see the wonders of the ocean without getting even a drop of water on them!
The most popular activities here are snorkeling, beach fishing, beach diving, etc.
Thanks to technology, visitors can also enjoy an underwater helmet walk, and no previous diving experience is required.
The Busselton Jetty is home to more than 300 individual marine species including different types of fish, corals, sponges, etc. The most common fish species in the area include the pink snapper, skippy, tarwhine, salman, tailor, herring, baldchin groper and King George whiting.
Disclaimer: Nope, I don’t have personal or academic knowledge of these fish species. What fascinated me is that there is so much marine life that makes this place a must-visit destination!
The Busselton Jetty embodies the resilience and dedication of its local community.
