Dear Reader,
The Indian Summer is in full throttle - it’s baking hot in Delhi, literally. And I am sipping chilled water all the time. Meanwhile, I’ve got a tad bit emotional when I revisited one of my old blog posts as a young mom (ah, you are thinking right now - not so young anymore! hahaha - of course you are right!) - yes, do read ‘Childhood Memories - Of Playing ‘Yes Boss’. I am sure every mom has such sweet memories tucked close to their hearts when it comes to their babies. More power to moms!
This summer, I feel like revamping the decor at home. Try something new. Add a pop of colour. It’s been a long time since I’ve done that. Plus, I don’t want to splurge on decor. I would prefer to mix and match with what’s already available at home. And by the way, these pics are sourced from Pixabay - not my home, just so you know:)

When I walk into any living room, my eyes are NOT drawn to how expensive the furniture or curtains are.
I like to breathe in the energy of a room and its inhabitants - what stories and secrets does it exude?
The art, photos and books speak to me. I sense the tales they carry.
Colours convey a silent language that blend in to create a personality for the space it embodies.
Think about it - what’s the first thing you notice when you step into someone’s living room?

Decor Tips from Experts
Interior Impressions highlights why it is essential to get familiar with the psychology of colours. For instance, teal or mint hues have a relaxing effect.
Wondered what brings in cosy elements? Think of earthy tones such as browns, earthy greens and terracottas usher as they in a sense of grounding and stability, bringing on a cosy and welcoming environment.
Mix feminine with masculine, high and low, round and square, is a valuable and unusual design tip from an iconic designer, Alexandra Kaehler, who has been cited in Vogue as follows, “The biggest rule to break is that you need everything to match, but juxtaposition is what makes interiors interesting.” Hmmm, I like this idea.
Art doesn’t have to be hung at eye level - sometimes it works better when you break this rule - such as placing something small over a large bed or even something over a doorway - an interesting design tip from Emily Henderson, Style by Emily Henderson. Experiment with unique art gallery ideas.
For those who don’t have the budget for a new flooring (like me!), experiment with rugs to enhance your living space. Find nice tips here and choose rugs with care.
According to Sam Baldry, head of design at Swoon, monochromatic display is key to bring in Scandinavian style for chic interiors. White walls, light wood and muted greens along with finer details of brass on door handles and lamps and light switches enhance this Scandi look to living spaces.
Worried your sofa isn’t fitting in? Explore these quirky ideas to save money and get sparkling with refreshing ideas to make your decor look super cool.
Maximize the functional elements of your living room. Use coffee tables that have at least two levels, one for display and another for storage. Repurpose an ottoman with a hollow interior compartment that works like a quirky coffee table. Use a sofa that comes out with a pull-out, comfy bed to house unexpected guests. Pull out easy stools or benches for easy storage.
Make sure there is ample walking space around your furniture.
The colour you choose may seem to alter a room’s proportions, visually. Makes sense why lighter shades are best suited for big rooms as they maximize space. Get more decor tips here.
