On Mother's Day, I fell in love with this quaint coffee shop in Noida
I don't drink coffee, that's why.
Dear Reader,
I have a confession to make.
At the peak of summer, it was love at first sight.
Between coffee and me.
Let me tell you how it began.
On Mother's Day, my family and I stepped out for an early morning brunch.
We headed out to a lovely coffee shop in Noida.
At first glance, my heart seemed to stop.
A striking white and red structure beckoned to me, like a book blurb calls out to its lover.
It wasn't just another coffee shop.
Surrounded by greenery on all sides, this marvel of a coffee shop in Noida made time stand still. For a few fleeting moments, it felt like we were on a beach holiday in Goa!
The vibe was so refreshing. We stepped in.
The ambience had a checkered, old world charm.
A couple were seated across us, engrossed in their conversation.
We struggled with the menu, first on the app, then on the menu.
Wondering what made us struggle with the menu?
I don't drink coffee, that's why.
Let me tell you: I went through this phase of being totally nuts about coffee.
When I was expecting my son, the smell of coffee would make me throw up.
I brushed it off as a phase that would change after the pregnancy.
Isn’t it strange that I lost my love for coffee when I became a mother?
Then I fell in love with coffee all over again fifteen years later on Mother’s Day!
Now, if I can't stand coffees, you may ask what made me opt to visit a coffee shop?
I wanted to do something different.
Get out of my comfort zone.
Do things I am not comfy with.
Plus, I caught up with a dear friend who recommended this coffeeshop and I couldn’t resist checking it out.
What a difference this made to an otherwise mundane Sunday!
My family and I had so much fun and laughter over breakfast.
The choices were tough, let me warn you.
How can you possibly choose between tempting ice mocha, cookies and cream blead and iced pomegranate coffee?
Seriously, iced pomegranate coffee?
Yes, from the looks of its popularity with most coffee lovers, it seemed to be their go-to-drink.
What got my interest instantly is its colour - a shade of deep, red wine.
And that's how we finally put an end to our menu-reading struggles and ordered our iced coffees, a vegetarian platter and non-vegetarian platter.
I love the fact that no one was in a hurry.
Everything was served on time, quietly and in a relaxed manner.
At the Roastery Coffee Shop, there were at least 15 people in a queue waiting for their chance to sit down for a leisurely brunch.
Still, the staff didn't rush the customers who were enjoying their food.
Kids ran freely around the place.
A cute and furry dog perched itself in the middle, unhappy about being made to wait in the sun.
Laughter all around. The occasional clink of glasses added to the allure of the coffee shop.
At the Roastery Coffee House in Sector 135, Noida, you can simply relax and do whatever you want. We clicked a few pics, of course.
And I still can't recommend this place enough. So, I decided to read up a little about it.
About Roastery Coffee
The creation of coffee is as old as time itself. Blending top notch quality with the best possible flavours to offer a delicious coffee and make it a sustainable business is not easy.
However, in 2017, Nishant Sinha aspired to do more with coffee.
Here's what sets apart The Roastery Coffee:
1. A Founder Who Found His Passion
A graduate from the Institute of Hotel Management in Jodhpur, Nishant Sinha knew exactly how to fuel his passion for varieties of coffee and cacao to suit the Indian market. Today, the Roastery brand is popular across all metros, set to make a global splash and this is only a beginning of many more fabulous milestones to cover.
Check out their location guide for more details.
2. Freshly roasted, specialty grade coffees - all of which are rated over and above 80+ when it comes to taste.
3. Making great taste accessible to all and in different varieties
And hey, I don't get paid for writing this.
But I love sharing my experiences with you - my reader.
In Anton Checkhov's famous words, "The world is, of course, nothing but our conception of it."
So yes, you are the reason that I sit down and write my heart out.
I do not know whether you enjoy coffee.
But I would like to believe that you are reading this newsletter for a good reason.
As you read this, make yourself a cup of coffee or iced mocha or tea and drop me a line about your favourite coffee shop and its location, what you like about it and so on.
In Kochi, my hometown, my favourite go-to-place is Cocoa Tree at MG Road, Pallimukku.
Another must-visit coffee shop in Kochi is 'Kashi Art Cafe'. My friends say it is an 'ultimate' destination. Sadly, I haven't had a chance to visit it yet. On my to-do-list!
Sharing below an image of a quaint coffeeplace at Kochi International Airport, in case you want to check it out.
And who knows, my next newsletter may feature you along with your coffee shop recco!
Till the next time we meet again, let's savour the sweetness of melting ice cream!
Time to wrap up with a beautiful quote on the practice of gratitude.
